Having fallen out with the two saddle fitters I know of and knowing it is unlikely they will have what i am looking for i am currently in search of a gp
Or whp saddle for a 13.2 cob that might be coming home at the weekend… any suggestions (in cheshire or willing to travel to cheshire)

I have had success with Village Saddlery, it is some years ago though and it was the main man who came out. It may have changed.
Used him for years but never available when you need him unfortunately— and sold me two identical saddles
Freedom Saddlery, just over into NE Wales with excellent trial facilities inc indoor school, but she also travels. She does fit ponies but I'm not sure what demo pony saddles she has - she only sells new.

I'd avoid VS and the main man, also avoid CS.
yes the two im not keen to use again

I was going to suggest Village Saddlery too. David Ashton is still the main one who does the saddle fitting. :)

I have used most on here having had horses in the area for 35 years. Some have been difficult to get hold of and others have just been satisfactory, CS were great years ago until a change of staff. The only one that actually did damage and had a bad attitude is Freedom saddlery. I wouldn't and couldn't recommend her. I have used Cheshire Saddle exchange for a good few years now and have been happy with them.

@scats @Red-1 the saddles on their website look amazing. Do they do a range though as most of them cost more than my horse ☺️
I got mine secondhand. It is AMAZING! The leather is deep, the only way I can think to describe it, sort of soft but strong. Claire was fabulous, took time to make sure we were both happy. I don't think she sells cheap saddles.

I had Cheshire Saddle Exchange out last night. Very useful if you're possibly interested in second hand as well as brand new.
Last time I needed a saddle she didn't have in what I was looking for so she wrote me the exact spec and sent me off to scour the internet and source it myself.

Andy Wheals t/a The Saddleman is based out of North Shropshire I think (he covers quite a wide area geographically)
The waiting list for him personally can be quite long but I believe he does monthly clinics from his place which make it easier.
We have always had good service and even when the mare changed shape he refitted the saddle rather than pushing to buy a new one (had the money there ready but he said there was nothing fundamentally wrong with the saddle we had that couldn’t be sorted).

Thanks Fred66 that reminds me Andy is another that I have seen awful fitting from and damage done which took a lot if work from vet/chiropractor to sort. In my experience unless buying new, so a refit, he doesn't watch you ride and crams fittings in. He seems to spend most of his time in his van though.

Not our experience, been using him for 20 years and always very happy with him.
