Saddle fitters - Devon/ cornwall. Who do you recommend?

Hi All,

There are only 2 SMS qualified saddle fitters in Cornwall. I have been recommended Leonard Coombe in Devon but he does not come down to Cornwall. I of course, only want the best..who can you recommend?

You could try Nutwell saddlery in Exeter, they do come down this way.

Nutwell are good BUT they only do new leather saddles. They charged me £60 for a fitting which was less than 10 miles from their base.

I've never used Wychanger but apparently they do fit 2nd hand saddles as well as new.

Thank you for that, seeing as one of mine is a thorowgood then nutwell wont be any good, as it probably needs flocking or something. My other horse has a leather one.

Have yet to find a saddle fitter I would call out a second time.
If it helps I can pm you further info.
When I spoke to Whychanger Barton they wanted to charge £100 for coming to Hayle area.
One worth a phone call is Jodie Hooper from Oakhampton.
She seems to know her stuff.

I am glad you think the same as me. Yes please, do PM me. As I say I have one thorowgood saddle for my cob and a leather saddle for my other horse.

Janet from nutwell is really good.

I have different things about wychanger, and not sure if they would be my choice.

Nathaniel Underwood is great, and I love the saddle that I had from him.

ahhh I see thank you. I keep hearing good and bad things about saddlers, its such a mine field out there it seems.

My friend had awful problems finding a good saddle fitter in Cornwall but recently had Emma out from West Country Saddlery who apparently is covering Cornwall for Nathaniel Underwood and has had individual training from him. My friend really liked her and bought one of Nathaniel's saddles - she loves it and her horse is going much better and gaining topline for the 1st time in years! Nathaniel is not far from me and is a fantastic saddle fitter! Might be worth giving her a call. I found the website on www.westcountrysaddlery.com.
