I am looking to get a different saddle for dressage but was wondering who you recommended in East Anglia on the norfolk/suffolk border.

I want someone who has a good selection of either new/second hand dressage (possibly jumping) and who is a REALLY good fitter.

They must bring out a good selection rather than try to pass me off with ordering a saddle that they "think" should fit.

I have rung Mill saddlery at stowmarket (think the fitters Liz?) i think it was the right saddlers...but tbh they didn't tell me hardly anything and were very uninspiring and were very vague (not helpful!)...just wondered about any one elses recommendations?

Thanks in advance...good and bad opinions would be good

I use Mark Fisher from Wisbech - he's very good, fits the British Eventing team and has a good stock and wouldn't sell you a saddle unless it actually fitted. He has a school for trying saddles at his shop but will come out to you - I recommend going to him as you can try more that way.

i would recommend juddphurs in beccles very good saddle fitters and you dont pay call out if you buy a saddle i brought a wintec for my boy and it's lovely.

sorry i won't use juddphurs im afraid although they are very close

I had Liz fit a saddle to my horse and was very impressed, a well known horse charity in norfolk also uses her

Ditto Liz - she was recomended to me by the well known horse charity in Norfolk (though many claim to fit for them) She fitted a very tricky mare for me and my physio was very impressed.

I stopped using Juddphurs - nuff said!

I would make sure it is Liz you get - have heard lots of good recommendations for her.

Unfortunately the fitter I had out from Mill Saddlery wasn't so impressive

£110 for two call out fee's - for 1, badly made, brand new saddle that didn't fit the horse, only to be told that's the best she could do as the horse was an odd shape being a typical Arab

Had to chase them up for the refund even though she took the saddle back with her on the second visit - would have been cheaper to have posted it back to them!

Good luck in finding a GOOD fitter - and let us know

Call the shop and ask to book an appointment with Liz, she really is excellent and worth going through the trouble of booking her. Has fitted all of my dressage saddles and saddles for hubby's event horse and I have never had any reason to grumble
