Any recommendations gratefully received. I still love all my Swaine saddles, but he's now a 6-7 hour round trip away, so just not feasible any more really. i need a really good saddle fitter/someone to alter the fit, wondered if anyone has any experience of Malan Goddard, or T&C Robinson in Stamford, or anyone else. Liz Leggat at Mill Saddlery is another option, but about 80 miles away, i know she was highly recommended on here a few weeks ago.
local Master Saddler is booked solid for 2 weeks and i'm desperate.
am happy to have mine altered and/or cough up for really good new xc saddle, either Southern Star, Barnsby, Ideal, or any other suggestions much appreciated.
thankyou.

wouldn't personally use TC again (personal experience - my opinion only)

I rate Mark as you know, both my saddles were originally fitted by Bridlepath and refitted by Mark and have never had a problem with either bloke.

Others that get good reviews are Milners at John O'Gaunt nr Melton, he does most makes but his call out is about 50p per return mile (think you could go there though)

Guy from Retford saddlery is supposed to be good too

thanks, that's great. Mark can't fit me in for 2 weeks, and i'm desperate, this jump saddle's not right at all, and i can't trust the mare's reactions now - they might be totally due to the saddle, you know? and i really really want to crack on and do some more jumping.

Give Liz a bell I know she covers a wide area.

Definitly worth it in my opinion , she has various second hand makes but in my experience her new saddles tend to be Ideal. But I'm happy to be corrected on that.

I would recomend Liz Leggett from Mill or Mark Fisher from Wisbech, they also work closely together and hold good stock of saddles are very knowledgeable and really nice people. Trouble is with the good people you may have to wait for them!

Of course i will support Ideal and also being BETA time there might be some nice new models about!

Malan is excellent but therefore incredibly busy. She fitted me in but only because I was very local - if you could travel to her, that might help? If you are in the market for a new saddle, Karen French of Alfred French & Sons will fit you for a new one but she doesn't alter saddles unless she sold them to you in the first place. Incidentally, if you can travel to Wisbech, Mark Fisher might be able to fit you in - he has a school there.

Is Oakham too far for you? I use Andy Milner at Milner's Saddlers. IMO they are the best in the area.

I also used to use Kay Humphries/Barry Swaine saddles (assume that's who you mean by Swaine) but found the trip too far, and also lost heart with them a bit too.

I find Andy Milner as good, if not better. They have a really good choice and a fab tack shop too, allways makes waiting around a bit more bearable.

ooh, that's starting to sound like a plan... are you sure that would be alright? i have a booking for 2.30pm on monday, spoke to Paul who was very nice and helpful...
i'd love to see J and meet you too!
which village is the yard at pls?

Im sure it would be fine, plus Liz knows where it is as she has fitted saddles there before. You would have to come to mine and unload then hack up if thats ok, then she can do both, and we can hack back

I get the school once a week anyway so dont see why I cant use if for a saddle fitting, I will text her and ask

Bridlepath saddlers is great. They are based in Bury St Edmunds but are in the Notts/Lincs area weekly. Really are excellent, and a reasonable call out aswell. Stocks Ideal, barnsby, Jaguar, Harry Dabbs, etc etc, really is one of the best saddlers around.

When I asked the same question I got told T and C Robinson. Had Nigel out two times to refit my saddle, and very happy so far.
