Saddle fitting advice?

I have the Albion K2 dressage saddle which fits my horse beautifully. I however have been wanting a GP saddle. Would I be able to purchase a K2 GP with the same length and width? There is a saddle fitter at my yard (doesn’t work commercially anymore so has no stock) who is happy to check the fit. I am not sure if this is a good idea or just easier to wait for a fitter availability (12-14 weeks in my area).

I did the same in reverse - we had a K2 jump, I bought a K2 dressage in the same size. When it arrived I was 95% sure it fit but had saddle fitter come and give it a once over, she was very happy with it.

If you can get one on trial its worth a try but if its purchased first maybe not. Every saddle will fit differently, even two made the exact same.

Good point. I would have done this, only most of the GB based second hand saddle vendors don’t do trials to Northern Ireland (edited to add I found what I was looking for through a second hand vendor in England!)

That’s a good point, could OP trial a GP from one of the saddle dealers? (Sheepham, Saddle Bank etc)

Get it on trial, even if the tree's the same the panel shape and length (GP is longer onto the shoulder) are different and will affect the fit, on some it will fit fine, others not so much. You may want to go down a seat size.
