Hi, im having to have the saddle fitter out far too often and naturally its getting too expensive. My horse has stayed pretty much the same so dont think thats the problem. The pommel keeps dropping low and touching her withers, she's not complaining but i dont want scarring or muscle damage etc. we had a new saddle with more load bearing panels to try and help and it still happens.

Has anyone else had a similar problem? Is it my riding or the saddler? What should i do? i just really want to be able to last a few months without needing the saddle fitter

My saddle fitter is brilliant and has so many ideas but im getting a bit fed up now.

You need to have a serious conversation with your fitter and explain your concerns, the tree might need narrowing (possible even with wooden trees, I do onsite adjustments as do some others). To drop to touch the withers just from flocking would be pretty tough unless it's too low in the first place in my opinion, but obviously I've not seen the horse in the flesh. Pommels can be too wide, panels can be too thin, tree points can be the wrong length, there's a chance even the tree is too curvy, especially if it drops at the front when you stand in rising trot, even when you do have clearance in walk. Is the fitter taking wither tracings so you can see if she really isn't changing? I would definitely have at least a shim pad you can chuck under it for now so you can shim the front to keep it up and in balance.
