Is there anyone that has trained part time as a saddle fitter. Not overly fussed about being part of the society of master saddlers as I’ve found in practice it doesn’t mean a lot (no offence, please don’t shoot me). I have a full time job on a decent wage so would want to do it as a hobby/additional income? Any ideas?

I’ve just got a new saddle fitter…she’s in her 30s and trained whilst working for the civilian side of a police force. It’s taken a while and she is running the saddle fitting alongside her full time job until she builds her reputation and client base.

If you have a good mentor who can hold your hand for some time into your career, then it's doable. For me I was very glad I was somewhat in at the deep end and working more or less full time from the beginning as I needed that immersion to get up the learning curve and get confident.

Do search on here for careers in saddle fitting and see my warnings 😁 as well as everyone else's input of course!
