Does a saddle thats slightly tight when you run your hand down the inside mean that its too tight? Ive got a new horse but Im having trouble trying to find a saddle that fits her thats cheap up to £350.00. Why is saddle fitting such a nightmare

There's tight and there's TIGHT!
Best get a saddler to look to be sure, Oz

I think getting a saddler out is the best idea. Well worth the call out charge and you'll have piece of mind that it fits! Try to find one with a wide range of secondhand saddles for you so you have plenty to try. Sounds like you need a wider tree width but I am no where near an expert :-)

Probably. Like others have said, i would get a saddle fitter to check the fit for you.

Yes, it will restrict shoulder movement and generally be uncomfortable. But wthout seeing its very hard to comment. Unfortunatly my horse was ridden in a saddle where the tree was too low and now has some muscle wastage. Always best to get master saddler out, can be costly but fitting saddles is so important! Godd Luck x

Echo this. Definitely make sure you get a QUALIFIED saddle fitter out. I've just had my saddle checked by a qualified saddler who tells me it is too wide. I've been using it for 18 months having previously had it checked by two other saddlers who said it fitted.
