How long should a saddle fitting last and what should I expect? I have a new horse with no tack so totally starting from scratch with him. My paddock is a mess and can't school in it until I get it rolled. So I don't really have anywhere to canter at the moment. Probably sounds like a stupid question to most but all my horses have always came with tack. Thanks
 
Me too! I've got a saddle fitter coming on Thursday - I think for half an hour. She's bringing a saddle to try and going to do a template (no idea what it will be, but I assume I can then use it to check a saddle will fit). I want to get a second hand saddle and my budget is less than most of hers.
 
Fitting and templates around 45 mins,if your trying saddles it will take longer.Templates are made to measure changes in your horses back they give the shape by placing coated wire over horses shoulder to give fitter idea of shape of his back. Its bit like having shoe for our feet if you draw around your foot it gives fitter idea of width that's suitable for foot ,its samew ith horses back. The back changes shape with work the horse does so fitter will need to recheck saddle in 6 mths .She can measure width needed from template to try the right saddles on him.:)
 
Thanks very much. Yeah to be honest he was very vague on the phone and didn't ask about my budget so we shall see what lovely prices he comes up with!
