My mare has asymmetric shoulders and the saddle tilts to the right. Any recommendations for overcoming this? Can conventional saddles be reflocked asymmetrically, or do I have to try a saddle that can be adjusted independently on each side at the front?

I've tried a Torsion - it sits level and my mare likes it, but I find it a bit too wide and I struggle to keep my position in it at anything above a walk.

yes, traditional saddles can be reflocked asymmetrically. obviously it would need to have big, deepish wool-filled panels in order for this to be possible, a close contact would not have enough panel room i think.

Would a half panel work? Kay Humphries re-made my Black Country VSD with a half panel and serge lining for my horse who's kissing spines restricted the use of his right shoulder.

A saddle co saddle can be assymetrically adjusted.
A wow saddle would be good as the headplate could be changed as your horses shoulders even up.

We have the same problem tilting to the right with an Albion and now she is in a wow it's much better.

All horses are to some degree asymmetric both in the shoulders and pelvic alignment. Be careful if you have the saddle asymmetrically flocked since the extra flocking on the underdeveloped muscle can then prevent the muscle from developing and promote further wastage.
A good saddler should be able to advise on the best type of arrangement whilst reschooling will correct the problem in time. Generally speaking fluffy half pads can help a lot with this problem but only if they are well made enough to allow plenty of 'give' - food for thought - hope it helps

I have exactly the same problem with my TB who is also croup high. I've spend years messing around with various types of saddles, flocking and pads and finally splashed out and got a WOW. It's the best money I've ever spent on him - expensive but definitely worth it. I actually feel balanced rather than like I'm falling down one side...

I ditto that, the Wow saddle is filled with air so can be pumped up over the area that is lacking muscle and reduced on the other side. As for position, they are superb!!

ive got one of those too, quite useful

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm a bit wary of the reflocking option as the assymetry does lessen with regular schooling. I'll look into the Wow and FnE saddles...
