I am thinking of treating my cob to a new saddle. Our old Walsall one, although it fits well, has seen better days. So I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions or good experiences of what would fit a very wide, very heavy traditional cob. He does have some withers but coupled with a broad flat back you could eat your dinner off :p I will be getting a saddle fitter out but any good suggestions will be welcome.

Which kind of leads onto my next questions :)

I have moved to near Pwllheli in North Wales and need suggestions for a fairly local saddle fitter, back person and equine dentist. I know there is a stronger horsey community in Anglesey than here so if folks know of such people in that area they generally cover here too. Many thanks :D

Native Pony Saddle Company! They cater specifically for native shaped flat backed types and their saddles are gorgeous and really comfortable....not the cheapest at between £750 and £1000 new though. Bear in mind this is NOT the same as 'the saddle company' they're totally different, and, although it's the Native Pony Saddle Company they don;t just cater for ponies :-)

Please think of trying a Balance International Saddle. We have managed to buy secondhand from ebay with the pads . They are excellent saddles and very comfy also the two pads (one thicker than the other). This makes sure the saddle fits if your horse loses weight or changes shape. Welcome to Wales!!
