Saddle is slipping

Since I've not owned a horse in the last 10 years, what's the solution these days any recommendation for girths or numnahs which may help?

Does the saddle slip without a numnah?
If not, try something like a Barnsby non slip saddle pad.
If it yes, then I'd check with my saddle fitter.

Sorry it is a numnah. I had 2 of these did me for years. Expensive though.

Get the saddle fitter out - a well fitted saddle on a horse with no issues (and a straight rider!) should not slip. I see way too many trees that are too curved from front to back for example, this leads to instability and it often results in the saddle slipping to one side. Your fitter might be able to advise something as simple as asymmetric girthing, but do also consider having your horse's back and pelvis checked, even look out for very mild lameness if you REALLY believe the saddle fits well. I fit very wide flat horses as a speciality, horses where slipping is common, but it's not acceptable in a well fitting saddle and I don't recommend grippy pads. A double ended elastic wide padded girth can help but no if the slipping is more than very minor.

I use a Stephens geleze pad for extra security when it comes to slippage. They're quite cheap and work really really well, plus my horse seems to be more comfortable with one. I just put it under a normal saddlecloth.
