My horse has a 'made to measure saddle' that was made a couple of years ago. It has never been a problem until recently it seems to have started rubbing at the very back where the lining is, and on both sides.

He hasent really put on weight or changed shape from what i can see, and his saddle seems to fit him like a glove still. It doesn't move when riding and looks balanced at both sides.
His hair has been rubbed short (but not bold) but underneath his hair, his skin seems to have rubbed off and even if you just to glide your hand over these areas hes flinches and jumps so its obviously giving him some bother but hes fine when i am riding him.

My RI told me to use his sheep skin nummnah and a cotton one underneath that (which i did do) but it seems to be getting worse. I have washed it with some medicated shampoo and Dermoline weekly and since been using Bio Oil (the horsey one) but still 3 weeks on now and its getting worse. There is also a lot of heat there aswell :(

should i give him a couple of weeks off riding then see.. does he need his saddle professionally checking? or is it time to call the vet before it gets anyworse. Surly heat indicates infection ? confused ? xxxx

Has your saddle ever been reflocked since you got it? I'd bet money on it sitting too low at the front and subsequently rising and moving at the back. A bit more flock should hopefully sort it out but def get a saddler out ASAP and pref the one that sold it to you if poss.

I'd say it has to be moving, probably just wiggling which as cm2581 says is commonly caused by a saddle being a little wide. Pressure on its own, ie the saddle tipping back, is a possible cause but less likely. Definitelyo get it checked and don't take advice from your RI, if it has been tipping back it will make it worse, and in fact sheepskin against the skin would be a better idea to stop rubbing, than putting it above a cotton pad.

Oh and the bit that is rubbing is the rear panel - the only lining in a saddle is inside that very panel and is something only saddle makers deal with, a proper tecchy part of it :)

Hoses can change shape a heck of a lot in a couple of years and because you see them every day, its really hard to pick up on.
I've just had to have a new saddle for my cob as my original one couldn't be made to fit anymore, and looking back at old pictures, I'm not at all surprised, he has changed shape completley over the last 3 years!
Hope you get it sorted soon :)
