The impossible question with out seeing the horse (move breath etc)

Can ANYONE WHO HAS AN OPINION (should not be hard on here:)) please suggest a make of saddle (that is not treeless please) that MAY fit a

slight chunky build
very high long withered
slightly lower then expected rib cage (an inch lower)
with a very wide spine /vertabre peices
17hh
warmblood

I am located in Bromley Kent and am also open to amazing saddle fitters that can point me in the correct direction although I do like mine from Saddle world.

I currently have a 17.5 Keifffer munchen and it is a bit narrow in the gullet for his spine so I am told but he does swing through lovely BUT am ow worried about schooling in case it is restricing his bend etc.

I am very confused and would love some guidence if possible please.

Thanks in adance

I'll leap in then (never at a loss to express my opinion!). Have you considered a thorrowgood? They do a high whither one, and with the variable gullet and shims you might get a nice fit? Tricky though, sounds like the horse my back lady has been trying to fit, and it has been a nightmare for her. Think she has finally found an ideal one though which is proving fab. Might just be a case of getting all the makes you can out and just trying a load out. Good luck!

Phew thanks for responding GG was getting parnoid about smelling or something lol.

Do Throrwogood do leather saddles do u know?

I wouldn't all confident suggesting a saddle to fit a horse I have never even seen, my first port of call would be a (preferably recommended) saddle fitter.

I would definitely consider a Thorowgood, it's the only thing I can get to fit my VERY high withered horse!

The Thorowgood T6 looks like leather but it is actually synthetic

This is a high wither design on my TB

and just to show how high his withers are

Kent and master do a leather version that is suppose to be the same fit but I haven't seen them in the flesh.

thanks but if you actually read my question you will find that that was amongst my comments.....

Sorry, not much help but sounds very much like my girl. Unfortunately never have been able to afford made to measure so have had frequent saddle changes through the years as condition, work, age etc has altered the fit.
Thinking back.. I seem to remember a Barnsby GP being the one that fitted her the best when she was younger but couldn't tell you what model etc.
Fitting has become a nightmare as shes got older as the inevitable loss of topline and dipping of her back has put her ribcage even lower than it was originally.
I've had to swap to a dressage saddle on a happy hacker as anything even slightly forward cut interferes with her shoulder as it doesnt sit at the right height IYKWIM?
Now riding her in the dreaded wintec...;)

thorrowgood don't do leather (but I must admit the T6 does look really good). Kent and Masters and also Fairfax do a leather version of the thorrowgood on the same tree. I have the fairfax and totally love it - more importantly so does my mare!

I have a very high withered TB with huge ribcage. I ended up having to get one made to measure from the English Saddle company - man called Matt Marlow. It is a fantastic saddle and the horse has improved dramatically. As far as I know, he travels round the country doing fittings. I think mine was £799 for the dressage one.
