Saddle moan..... - what would you do?

Had saddler out to check mares saddle AGAIN today, as she is now "broken" and has been doing more and more work, she has muscled up a bit more, now saddle that fitted previously is to narrow, and being a cheapy synth one, cant adjust....have been brought a beautiful black leather one by OH (bless he appeared to think a saddle was a saddle and would fit....) and saddler said it is a little to wide, but with a bit more topline is likely to be a nice fit.

So i can;

A - buy another saddle, that i will use for a few weeks
B - pad out the slightly wider saddle till she grows into it.....

What would you do....
 
What did the saddler say? Ask him what he thinks of the fit with something like a polypad underneath the wider one as a temporary measure :)

I have a shires shockabsorber pad and a pretty thick spongy numnah, he said it'd be a shame to adjust my new saddle as all she needs is a little more topline and it will be perfect.....

After a couple of bad saddler experiences, i am a little wary (even if people trust them and theyre reputable as had fingers burnt before) so i could pad it, but i dont want to potentially hurt her, she only does walk and a little trot with a rider, and lots of lunge work and some free schooling.
 
JessandCharlie - yes very sweet of him, was even more of a revaltion when asked what size head she was as they only had pony, cob and full..
 
I have had the same issues with my youngster.I can't afford to keep changing saddles.I will get him one fitted once he has stopped growing and filling out.
So I would pad it out for now.Just make sure the pads don't pinch and that she doesn't get sore.
 
Better too wide and padded than too narrow and pinching. Defo go for pads. This will also allow her to muscle up and for her shoulders to move more freely where a narrow fitting saddle could restrict this. :)
 
My saddles are xw and xxw as most of the time they need to be that wide. If they start to sit a bit low if the horse has fittened up/lost weight I have a Balance saddle pad that works perfectly. It was quite expensive but I think a Prolite pad would do the same thing (its high density foam, shaped like a half pad.)
