please give advice brutal, honest and the rest!!

Had saddler out today as suspected the fattys saddle was rubbing and he hasn't been going so well in it. She said that the saddle i bought in sept doesnt fit him anymore. its kent and masters and was brand flamin new when i bought it!! had it fitted by a reputable fitter. Anyhew, the saddler said saddle is rubbing him, and she couldnt do a lot for it, said that due to it being interchangeable gullet the tree moves too much and even changing gullet and reflocking it wouldnt help him as really pinching at the front.

she doesnt sell saddles, only fits, and recommended Ideal GPD, Dever and Albion. I wanted to know what anyone elses opinion was on these, if anyone had had K&M probs and if they could recommend a decently priced brand that i can get for my boy (TB with mega shoulders!!!) thank you!!!

Personally, I'd use it as the inspiration to start really getting the pony down to the right weight, so that then you could go out and choose a saddle that fitted.

Until pony is less fat, any saddle is only going to fit short term, so I'd probably opt for a barefoot treeless saddle or something similar that isn't so dependant on absolute shape/size, although I wouldn't be doing much rising trot or work standing in the stirrups in a treeless saddle.

i would get the original fitter out for a second opinion, i have fitted and sold alot k&m saddles and have been impressed at how 'adjustable' these saddles are, not just the gullet but they flock up extremely well to get a custom fit. very difficult to comment on your horse but i personally have not had one horse i have not been able to get a good fit with these saddles.

thanks for that, i am hoping to get prev saddler out. the one i've just had said that they had no support over the tree as it was resting only on stirrup bars and moved too much for the horses back and pointed out that the tree apparentlty stopped before the pads so it was less stable and more prone to twisting?

Firstly when you had the original saddler out did he/she issue you with a notice of cancellation - this is a legal requirement & a criminal offence not too - it comes under the door step trading act 2008 if a saddler comes to your home & yard to sell you goods - if they did you would have had just 7days to reject the saddle & contract to buy - if they did NOT then you can reject the saddle at any time.

I am just going through this process tho unfortunately the saddler who came to me dissagreed with the act relating to them & had persuaded his trading standards officer to agree --- there has now been another meeting & it is agreed that the act does include saddlers, but as HIS trading standards officer has agreed with him in writing that it did not, trading standards will not persue my case - I am therfore having to take Martin Wilkinson to court.

OMG THIS IS MY STORY too
I have had 2 years of nightmare saddlers- saddle fitters - flockers.

3 saddles one being made for him wore it - 5 months told too wide sent away came back found no one touched it - caused horse to buck - back out etc, Brand new Ideal saddle from XXXXX saddlers.

only to be told a year later it doesnt fit

In the end i went to saddles direct http://www.saddlesdirect.co.uk/

took photo of my horse all angles she said * KIEFFER* IS THE ONLY SADDLE WHICH WILL FIT HIM.

had one on trial from them horse changed for the better, after trial they sent it to kieffer Milton Keynes who made it to med wide which he is.

got saddle back AMAZING horse flatwork improved so did his jumping .

Highly rec them . There are a few I could mention who i would not
