Can someone please recommend a reputable saddler in the Leicestershire/Warwickshire area. I have heard so many bad reports that I am now very confused. Having been let down by one saddler I am now anxious to get something sorted quickly as we currently have no saddle at all.

I have heard someone called Jan Roberts mentioned. Has anyone used her? She isn't a master saddler but is apparently excellent. Also horse sense were recommended.

I was thinking second hand but can hardly find any 16.5 jump saddles so will probably go for new one. Have been offered a second hand Jeremy Rudge jump for £600 but know little about them. Also told to try Kent and Masters or Ideal.

Must fit a stocky New Forest who is 14.1

Help!!! Getting desperate !!

I have a couple of suggestions. (I'm in North Warwickshire so probably not z million miles from you)

I use Paul at Townsfields. I saw (and heard through the stable wall) him fitting a saddle to another horse on our yard and was impressed with how thorough he was and how he spent time double checking everything and explaining to the owner what he was doing and why. They only deal with Bates and Wintec though. I benefited from someone's else's loss in that a fellow livery was selling her Bates after she lost one of her horses and agreed to let me get the saddler out first and buy the saddle after on the condition he could fit it to her suitably which he did (the Bates saddles are very adjustable).

My other suggestion is SG Saddles. I haven't used them personally but I was on the same yard as Sam a few years back. She seems to be building up a good reputation for herself and is a person of integrity. I was thinking of getting her out but then the Bates above came up and I didn't need to....

Hope this helps.

Thank you! Someone has mentioned Townsfields and also seen Craig Millard recommended on here but have heard so many bad reports about Tower Farm that it puts me off a bit. Is he a new fitter at Tower Farm?

He has been there a couple of years I think but they have other saddle fitters (perhaps the quality of them was variable?) He is excellent and several friends have used him with great results.

Thank you! I spoke to horse sense earlier and they can't see me until 5th June and then it's an eight week wait for a new saddle. I have been messed about by so many people who promised they could get me a second hand saddle. I then decided to get a new one and was messed around by RS Sadddles at Sharnford who called to cancel my appointment because Ruth wanted to take her horse eventing on the day she was supposed to see me......and I was going to be spending almost £1000 with them!!!!!

Sam Gawn SG is lovely. Also Rachael Jayne Barker, Optimal Equine, though she's Nottingham area.

Rachael is currently nursing a broken ankle, but is trying to get back to work.

Andy Wheals is very good although I don't think he does secondhand saddles. He is based in Whitchurch, Shropshire but travels all over the country.
