I have a saddle which I part exchanged for my old one with my saddler last October, I had it checked 5 weeks ago, and was told by them it was fine. After finding hair a bit brittle in one side of the saddle and my ned having started to go done on his hocks with me, decided to get saddler out to check again.

Having looked closely at the padding on the underside of the saddle I have discovered that the padding is not symmetrical, by about one inch, is this usual? Should I ask for my money back? Or is it normal ?

First question - is your horse symetrical? You would be surprised at how many horses are NOT.

Was the saddle new or second hand? If new, and your horse is not symetrical, the saddle will have flattened more on one side than the other to compensate for the difference in your horse. If it is second hand, then maybe it just needs the flocking adjusted?
