I am considering buying a pad to go under my horse's saddle just for a bit of extra comfort for him. I have looked at the following:-

Prolite
Wintec Gel Foam
A sheepskin pad eg. Bartl
Equigel

Anyone got any recommendations?

We use Prolite as a rule, or just a normal Numed Hi Wither saddlecloth. But I bought a fab half pad by LeMieux at Your Horse Live, which can be used as a normal pad or as a front or rear riser pad (or both) with special inserts. It is lovely!

Agree with Prolite, fantastic pads and all the saddlers I've talked to have loved them. Not ridiculously priced either. One saddler went so far as to say they're the only ones that actually work...

ive got prolites and they are fantastic, and highly recommended. also got a sheepskin 1/2 pad, which i dont think has the shock absorbing properties that the prolite does, but because they are so thick, they can help pad out a saddle as a temporary measure. if the saddle fits sometimes a big chunky shipskin can alter the fit, but the prolites are so thin tbey dont alter the fit, but add protection (unles ypou get the riser ones, and then the fit is altered!!)
