Saddle Panniers Q

So this summer I'm planning on doing a lot more longer distance hacking and would like to get a set of panniers that I can put phone/lunch/map etc in.

I like the look of the shires one, but am being really thick and can't work out how they would attach to the saddle! So if anyone has any pics of the panniers attached that would be really helpful.

Also neither of my saddles have D rings at the back, so if anyone can recommend a set of panniers that don't need to be attached by D rings, that would be great :D

the middle part sits between numnah and saddle then the adjustable straps loop around the top of the girth straps. We then used baler twine to make another loop around the girth straps further down (attached to a plastic d-ring on the pannier itself). This stopped them flapping when we cantered. No D-rings required!
Perfect, you can fit a nice lunch, leadrope, drinks, apples for horses etc in them.
 
Take a look at Decathlon, I am going to get their numnah with the two generous pockets.35 Euros or £23 in UK I think.They look good.but only made in dk brown full size?Or has anyone got one to sell?

Ditto what bexpinkie said, although I didn't make an extra loop. Used mine for Easter treasure hunt, 2 hour hack in the howling wind and rain, walk trot canter and bucking(!), they didn't flap at all :) and they're a really good size.
 
Just beware of putting your mobile in the panniers !! Should you part company with your steed & they disappear for parts unknown have you shown them how to use the phone to get help for you !!
Only say this as I "came adrift" from neddy hacking near home & thankfully as phone was in coat pocket I could call yard who rushed out to grab neddy before caused trouble !!

Ok, I know I'm being REALLY dense, but do they go in front r behind the saddle?
