Ok this may be a thick question but I don't know if anyone could enlighten me...

Looking at saddles for sale, prestige meredith in fact, and some are advertised as just 17/33 etc and some with a +2cm projection and some a +4cm projection.. what is this? Is it something to do with blocks/knee rolls?

We usually stock the +2cm for our jump saddles. This means the flap is slightly more foward to allow for a longer femur/shorter stirrup length.
Hope that helps

Yep, I have a normal flap one, and a +2cm which is much more suited to a shorter stirrup. But does depend on your leg length and conformation!!

Thanks for your replies :)

Would it have a significant effect on the fit of the saddle to the horse? Or just an effect to the position it puts you in as a rider?

Good question, on my nags it doesn't make a particular difference in fit, just depends what I'm doing. But saddle fitting is such a minefield I'd hate to comment! I live in Italy and saddle fitting is not quite what it is in the UK.
