I have a horse that has gone from a Med/Narrow wintec pro dressage saddle, to a generous Med fit Ideal Jessica, to a MW Equxtra Cobra in 6 months - the cobra no longer fits - I would love it to, because it is secure enough to jump (which I do a few times a month) and deep enough to work on the flat (which is out main priority)

Do I buy a dressage saddle in a wide fit to allow for a sheepskin pad (and more growth) and then a cheaper jump saddle later on

OR

Get another Cobra (in a wide for sheep etc)

I have around £300 and secretly miss my dressage saddle SO much - HELP!

Speak to your saddle fitter. Ideas generally have a decent amount of tinker space so the gullet can usually be widened a little and some alteration of the flocking can get you more space. I would chat through your options with them as you don't want to keep blowing £ on saddles that don't fit for long!

I can't help I'm afraid, only sympathise. I have two youngsters that keep changing shape, 4 saddles and only 1 that fits - the 1 that fits works for both of them which is helpful on one hand but means they can't be ridden together at the moment.

Why is it so hard to sell secondhand nearly new saddles but at the same time impossible to find the same to buy?

I just need a wide fitting dressage saddle in honesty, that I can pad out with a sheep!

But finding one for arounf £300 isnt easy either!
