Quick question! I've just purchased a saddle from a reputable source online. It's an Ideal International Event VSD. Its a gorgeous saddle and looks new however on the nearside there is a slit in the leather just by the stirrup bar. It's an inch long and the flocking is actually sticking out! The leather is so soft here that I'm not sure a stitch would hold particularly well without pulling through the leather. There isn't one on the other side. Is this something that could potentially be a problem??

Thanks

it is probably where the flocking has been adjusted at some point. i had my saddle altered on site once and it wasnt until a few months later i noticed the slit in the seam. im assuming its where they have accessed the flocking. Not really sure why it was not stitched back up or that i was at least told this would be left?

I thought this at first, however the cut is right in the middle of that small panel, and only on one side. Bizarre and annoying! I have to keep poking the flocking back in.

Hi nothing to do with your problem but you ll love the saddle .I changed to an ideal 18 months ago its the most comfy saddle i ve ever had would never have any other saddle , ride for hours and no numb bum !
