Hi,
This is pretty much the most important saddle your horse will ever have in terms of fit as you want everything to be an enjoyable and stress free process, so I would get a saddle fitter out and see what suits. If the shape suits him then one of the thorrowgood models would be my choice and a handy first saddle, well designed for the horse, comfortable for the rider and has nice deep panels and adjustable gullet which gives you a chance it might be adjusted to fit for a while.

never seen the tekna one before. I wonder what happens once it's been heated to fit your horse at the time can it be reheated to refit? I presume a tekna dealer does it? can't find any info on their website.

My friend used one of these to break her horse, recommended to her by a vet that used one on her horse

that was a couple of years ago now and shes never had any problems.

Not saying that you shouldn't have a properly fitted saddle but they are good apparently

Thanks for the advice! I did originally start off with this in my head nut after I posted about treeless saddles people almost had kittens so I decided against. Interesting a vet said it tho...

I've used it to hack out on her horse and it's incredibly comfortable, she has a GP fitted leather one that she paid about £1300 for to use for shows but whenever we go out she always uses her treeless, I think she's on her 2nd one now!

Vets aren't saddle fitters....just like you'd seek out a nutritionist or a trimmer for certain dietary and hoof issues, rather than a vet, I'd also not go off a vet's advice for saddles, sorry.
