Sorry for all the questions at the moment!

We need to get a new saddle for a horse we may be buying. Obviously we would get a saddler out to fit/check any saddle we were thinking of buying. Ideally, I would really like a leather saddle, but it would be very good if it were adjustable (does that rule out most second hand?). Found a saddle that I really like from the Ride-Away catalouge, the 'Kent and Masters Adjustable Leather Saddle'. Now, the horse in question is a TB-type, how likely is it this saddle will fit, even if it is adjustable? Would it be worth buying it then getting a saddler out to check fit, or is doing it that way a big 'no-no'?

Thanks! :D

Kent and Masters are basically the leather branch of Thorowgood, so yes, they are great saddles.

They have various different models so it's quite likely one will suit your new TB. Don't know which types Ride-away sell but it may not be the full range - have a look at Kent and Masters website.

If Rideaway do the most suitable type (poss the high withered version?) then I would probabaly just buy it, on the basis you can send it back if the saddle fitter doesn't think it suits.

Oh fab, I never knew that! So I assume they have the same sort of saddles, just in leather? I'll take a look at website, as there was only one Kent and Masters saddle- and I know Rideaway don't even have the full range of Thorowgood.

I sell the full range of Thorowgood, Kent & Masters and Fairfax saddles in my tack shop in Norway (not trying to sell as you would be far better off buying in UK as Norway is very expensive).

Having obviously seen many of these saddles passing through I can really recommend Kent & masters saddles. The leather is great for the price and the saddle looks like a T6 except it is leather. I am replacing my Keiffer (used in sig) with a Fairfax soon, as I am so impressed with them and love the fact the gullets are changable. I also like the huge sticky outy knee blocks on the Fairfax Dressage (basically the same as my Keiffer), saves me hitting the dirt on my errrm spirited Ols lol.

Try and find a shop that sells all the models, the Kent & Masters is sold in all the different models the same as the T6, and yes you probaby will find the High Wither version the best suited to your type of horse.

I've taken a look at their website, and a local tack shop stocks the Kent & Masters, so what I may well do is give them a call and ask if they could come out with some of their saddles, plus order in a high withered Kent & Masters one. Thanks! x
