Just wondered if anyone has a rough idea on what it would cost to replace girth straps?
It’s an Ideal monoflap so only two each side. The current ones appear to be leather covered with nylon cores I think but they are getting very worn out.
Also wondered if bonded leathers are the same as calfskin leathers (believe both have nylon cores?
I currently have regular leathers but my saddler suggested buying some softer ones as they are marking the saddle flaps quite badly.

I charge £15 per strap or £80 for a full set of 6 - I hate doing them so I keep the price relatively high. I do triple stitch them by hand and put them on the right way i.e. the flesh (rough) side facing out so they are super strong and last for an absolute age.

I would check to see how the original straps are attached to the saddle. With monoflap saddles, sometimes the billets are stitched into the flap; and sometimes they are made from the flap itself, which can really complicate the replacement of them.

Thanks all, I did call the local saddlery today and they said £15 per strap. I’m not sure actually how they are held on (will look tomorrow) but I told them the saddle make and model so assume they will know, it was purchased from them originally.
