When I clipped Fly I got carried away and ended up taking the lot off on his back! The trouble is, it has nearly grown back except for two patches at the back where his saddle obviously moves. This does not happen when there is hair there but how on earth will it ever grow back if I keep using the saddle every day! This happened to my firends horse as well and it only grew back when she was riding once a week. Has this happened to anyone elses horse or should I be concerned that my saddle does not fit properly?

My friend horse get bald patches everywhere at the end of the winter (looks really moth eaten!!), bald bits where her legs touch his sides, where the reins touch his neck. at the back of the saddle (His saddle fits really well too) and on his shoulders from his rug. When his summer coat comes through, they all disappear.

My Po only has a trace clip, not on his back, but where his numnah touches at his bum end it wears two patches, this only happens in the winter, I can ride everyday in the summer with no probelm, we have come to the conclusion that his winter coat is more brittle than the summer coat, hopefully when your beasts summer coat comes through all will be fine, maybe not clip where his saddle fits next year.

This happens alot in the winter with many horses. It happened to my lad when we first had him & I spoke to a saddle fitter & chiropracter & both said there was nothing to worry about. If it was happening in the summer it would be a different story but at this time of year it's due to the coat......no problem with the saddle.

That's P too!

my horse gets rubs everywhere in winter, shoulders, two patches on back, he's even got a random one on his side that I don't know what caused it! I was worrying a bit about it yesterday but good to hear that it's not only him that gets it!

Mine has got rubs everywhere, his winter coat seems to be "old" and ready to come out, he even has a rub on his bum either side where his tail has touched ! (big tail..............big a*se !)

Rug rubbing on his front shoulders ect is a pain, I fit him with a silky type anti rub vest and a thicker quilted one, still gets rubs at the top of his legs.
