I am having a saddle fitter coming around this weekend to *hopefully* fit a saddle to my horse. Due to his size, I am looking at saddles around 17.5-18", however, I normally ride in a 16-16.5" saddle (can ride in 17" fine too). My YO was in a similar position and was mentioning you can have a saddle seat adjustment thing to add to your saddle to make it feel smaller for you? I am doing my research now on prices etc so I was just wondering what the name is!

Thanks :)

some saddle companies (eg wow) come in bits that you kind of build up....

also, most companies will make you a saddle to order. eg you can get a smaller seat put on a larger tree. so the weight is distributed across larger surface area, but you're still secure in your seat. bear in mind you might also need smaller flaps too - again most companies will do this for you.

you can get all sorts of different 'seat saver' type things, the heather moffatt ones are very popular. and they sort of make your seat area smaller, however they also lift you up a bit - and they don't change the flap length.

your saddle fitter will be able to tell you all of this, and try lots of saddle on for you to ride in. you'll be able to find one that fits you and the horse... good luck! :D

Thanks heaps for your reply ClipClopPop! It must be the Heather Moffatt Seat Saver sounds like the one! Just a shame it doesnt come in tan (hope that is not the saddle that fits!)
