Does anyone use one of these? If so, can anyone recommend a good one?

From time to time, My seat bones are uncomfortable when I ride. (Mainly due to the fact that I am hypermobile and have issues with my hip joints, I think- and that I am quite thin and bony!)

I found a one of those cheap fleece ones I had at home and had never used. Tried it today and, although it felt OK, it didn't feel that 'paddded'.

My saddle is a Wintec Isabell Werth dressage if that makes any difference. (I do usually love this, just not when my joints act up).

I've had both Heather Moffat and feedmark seat savers. They are basically the same and both do the job of protecting seat bones. I never ride without one.
 
Cavello horse health do them better than heather moffat well worth every penny also if you have bad hips try some spring sided styrups x

I've had a look on Google for the ones mentioned. How do you find the Acavello one for stickiness issues? Some of the reviews said rising trot was difficult with them.

I hadn't thought about spring sided stirrups. Thanks. Will have a look for them too.
 
I have an Acavello gel seat saver and find no problem with the stickiness and rising trot. I find it very comfortable. I wish I'd had it on last weekend when I was hacking and Samuel threw in one of his hyper-speed sideways spooks, might have actually stayed on LOL.
 
I have an Acavallo gel in as my boy's saddle is an Albion and they make my seat bones hurt. I didn't get a gel out as I have full seat breeches and I thought it'd be too sticky. I love mine - it keeps me comfy and it still helps me to sit his bucks!
 
I love the Acavallo gel seat savers and always recommend them, they are fab! They come in two different styles - 'gel in' which is like a suede finish, it's very comfortable but has no grip. The 'gel out' version is the sticky one you would have been reading about, they are good for helping you to stay in the saddle if your horse has other ideas!
 
Thanks for the replies. I think it would be the 'gel in' one that I would want then. When I've looked them up, however, the descriptions seem to mention the 'gel out' ones as being suitable for dressage but the 'gel in' ones being suitable for hacking and jumping.

I'd need a one suitable for a dressage saddle. Is the 'gel in' one suitable?
 
I have an acavello gel out as my horse is spooky, it helps me stick to his spooks but doesn't hinder rising trot, it's very comfortable too
 
Sorry to thread hijack but does anyone know if any of these seat savers, particularly the acavello ones fit 18" saddles? A friend let me borrow one of hers (unbranded sheepskin one) but it was too small for my saddle :( Silly long backed horse haha, my tiny bum feels lost in her saddle!
 
I bought a second-hand Heather Moffett seatsaver on e-bay, bought it to try it really.

I just don't like it!! Basically (ahem) it irritates the "lady bits"........ :( Need one say more.

I have a friend who rides my horse and she is OK with it, so I basically keep it in the tackroom for her.

It really is the most uncomfortable piece of kit I've ever ridden on!!

I've got a sheepskin seat-saver somewhere in my tack room, might try that.

But have gone back to my lovely treeless saddle which I can ride both my horses in, and be comfortable. Decision made! Have given up on "seat savers".

The 'large' size is apparently for 17.5 and 18" saddles. I've ordered a 'gel in' one today. Very excited. The lady did say though that, although my saddle is 17" to the stud, as it has a deep seat, I should go for the large rather than the medium so, if your saddle is a deep seated 18", I suppose it may come up short.
