Ok. so what on earth does that reply mean

Do you have any idea why they removed the feedback (according to their rules ).

No, not yet. I wrote to the vice president of ebay and asked why it was removed. They are 'investigating'.

That reply you have quoted is very strange. I thought that at the time I read it.

I have now received an email to confirm the negative feedback has been reinstated, but the comment has been removed. They have said that no further information regarding the issue will be shared with me as privacy is high priority.

Perhaps due to this thread? Who knows? It's all very strange, and a shame that 'safety' is not considered an equally high priority?

Thing is though, if it had been dealt with properly in the first place, I would not have felt the need to warn others in any way I could. There would have been no need for this thread.

A lady from my yard recently bought a cheapy synthetic saddle from eBay.. no sign of it arriving after a few weeks, after seeing all this, I must ask her the name of the seller.

Probably a different seller. Hold-your-horses-equestrian is very good at sending things out quite quickly and fast communication too. It is only if you send it back that things start to unravel. That and the poor quality of the product. :(

Aaaah now I get an inkling where ebay are coming from - mentioning safety issues in the feedback could well be taken as "libel", which is how the seller got it removed ??

I am so slow on the uptake. it's not right - but i think trading standards are the ones to badger here (know you're already doing that) :)

If you leave feedback that can be deemed offensive or libelous then ebay will remove the comment but keep the negative strike.

Apparently they received a valid statutory notice from the seller. They did however say that this did not mean that ebay themselves felt that my feedback was defamatory or broke any rules.

Trading standards are not interested as I got my money back. So other people riding on unsafe saddles doesn't matter, it would appear.

Tbh, it doesn't sound like someone with a very good command of English....

It's a quote and means be nicer to folk than you really have to be because you don't know what sort of personal battle they are fighting.

Totally inappropriate use of it in this instance of course!

I do wonder about the moral fibre of people who can knowingly sell this kind of tatt to people. Poor quality is one thing, but selling saddles that only have one piece of poor quality webbing holding on all the girth straps, and unsafe stirrup bars takes a person with very little conscience IMO.

I would have thought Trading Standards would have brought a saddle in for 'testing' if deemed unsafe it would be subject to a recall. Maybe you have to have an accident first for them to act, crazy.

Can you report to Trading Standards for shoddy/dangerous goods? Might be worth finding out.

No. Trading Standards no longer deal with individual members of the public. You get a standard email back asking you to go to Citizens advice. You then trawl through their site and fill out a very detailed form which takes a long time, only to get another standard letter back informing you of all the methods you should try to get your money back! About as much use as a chocolate teapot. :(

I did not know that, but I suppose they can't be bothered to deal directly with the people who pay their wages.

How annoying, I see on the cits advice web page it says to report unsafe goods to TS, seems to be sending people round in circles!

Ah well, at least I have done everything I can, and hopefully stopped one or two people buying a saddle such as this and possibly getting hurt or damaging their horse's back.
