I've sold a saddle - successfully and at the price I wanted - on Preloved. BUT I had to wait a whole year!!
E-bay isn't helpful to sellers if your courier "loses" the saddle, or damages it, during transit. If I was selling on e-bay then I would put "collection only", but then you wouldn't necessarily expect to get the price you were wanting, plus you'd have to consider your loss on commission fees.
I have currently got a saddle I want to get shot of; am considering all the options - and there's a little second-hand tackshop at the place where I have my clippers repaired. They charge 20% plus a small fee; you say what you'd like for the goods and they just take it off your hands!! Simples. No having to package up a bulky saddle - which is a PITA and can take practically half a day - nope, you just hand your saddle over and hope someone takes a fancy to it!
This is what I'm gonna do, I think. Easier and less hassle. Am prepared to pay the commission coz need to get rid of the saddle!
FB has a million different ways to sell a saddle, what's the saddle and what group(s) did you try? I run a specialist group for cob and natives saddles and most sell reasonably quickly, but I will remove saddles that don't fit the bill, so its very focused which helps.
I've just managed to sell a saddle which like you just didn't fit my horse on Facebook, It took a few weeks. I had initially posted on a few groups too. The lady who bought it had it posted to her and is double checking the fit, if it isn't right then she will return at her own expense. I think whatever you try it just takes a lot of time and patience unfortunately.
I sold about 3 in the space of a few weeks on eBay as was having real trouble finding something to fit my boy. Tried other routes but eBay was definitely they quickest.
I have sold on ebay and also Saddles Direct. Both worked fine and I got a sensible price, they were all good quality saddles from a popular manufacturer (albion, jeffries and Jaguar) and in pretty good condition but nowhere near new.
