My youngster is ready to be backed in the next week or so.
She has had a couple of weeks off as had an injury (cut in awkward place, needed restricted movement to allow to heal).
She is a cob x type, not chunky but she's a very good doer and has developed a bit of a belly, also has nothing in the way of withers.
Her saddle looked a little tight so took out the fish inserts, and it looked a lot better.
However, when lunging her especially in canter it slipped forward up onto her neck and I had to move it back before changing rein. Her movement is much better but when it slips forward it does impinge her shoulder a bit.
There is no point strap.
It appears to fit well in other aspects, and having discussed with my saddle fitter I'd really like to get her backed before we have a saddle fitted as otherwise she wont see her ridden in it and cant be sure it is a good fit.
Does anyone have any suggestions to help for the next couple of weeks until we have a saddle fitted? Is there any chance it is now too wide or there is something else simple I am missing?
I know when I back her obviously she'll be mainly hacking and walking and trotting a small amount in the school so shouldn't be as obvious then but I'd like her to be as comfortable as possible.
