Hi!

This is my first time posting here!

I have a 4 y old mare whose saddle keeps slipping forward. I have only recently discovered this as it is one of many problems.

My question is: Is there anything that I can do or get tat will resolve this problem as it is irritating her and causing her pain through her shoulders.

Thanks in advance!!

Well I would stop using it and have a saddler take a look, it may need adjusted....

I am between saddles at he moment so to speak! she has grown out of her old one so I got a saddle fitter out who fitted a saddle to her and left it with me to try.....its still slipping. Apparently is because of the shape of the mare - broad back end to a narrow front.

I'm giving back this borrowed saddle as is too long for her...

Is it just a case of keep trying until we find one that suits? Or is there an alternative?

ETA: I stopped riding her 6 weeks or so ago and have had her seen to and she has been sorted. I rode her yesterday and today and the saddle started to slip after a few minutes so I got off her.

Its so important to have a correctly fitting saddle on any horse but esp youngster! I would get a qualified saddler out. They may be able to reflock or adjust the tree etc. I was told to use the first and third girth straps on a saddle thats slips forward but this would not resolve any damage to your horses back. Good luck! :-D
