Saddle slipping

Hi i was just wondering if anyone knew how to stop a saddle from slipping i have a grip saddle pad but it's not working at the girth is done up

If the saddle is slipping then it needs a check from a saddler as it is likely that it doesn’t fit properly anymore.

As Rosietaz has said, get it checked. Lots of "padding" under that saddle, it's not helping I'm afraid, Oz (Saddler)

If the wither is not well defined, the saddle will slip laterally really easily when padded too much. If the padding is nearly as deep as the wither, there is nothing really to stop it rotating.

Echo the others about a proper fit and get rid of all that padding. When they are basically barrel shaped a small amount of lateral slip is very difficult to limit and these help. But - and I cannot emphasise this enough - not until the saddle is checked and fitted as well as it can possibly be.

Ok thanks guys the thing is she needs extra support so i either have a nummnah underneath or a half pad on top im going to try just the grip pad today but this has only started happening

Adding pads will not help if the saddle is a poor fit.

i only add extra pads because her back needs extra support

You can have your saddle fitted to accomodate a suitable pad if you need one. Coblet's saddle has always been fitted to accomodate a sheepskin 1/2 pad. Initially because as a PC Pony he had to accomodate dfferent weight riders from time to time and more recently becuase he is very old and his back is dippping. But always only on specific saddler advice and fitting to accomodate it.

Pads don't support a back as such - do you need to protect her back from soemthing?

Hi shay its fine now we have figured out the problem there was to many pads underneath so it was slipping i put just the grip pad on and it didnt slip

Update today we had the back vet and saddler out and she is being treated
