I have a new saddle being made for my cob but in the meantime have been using another saddle for him until it arrives. It appears to fit fine for short term use and shows no obvious pressure points.
However I have noticed that he has had 3 or 4 raised patches of hair come up on his back, near where the cantle sits, which are about 1 cm wide and with a scab in the middle. Could this be from the saddle, but to me doesn't look like a rub or convetional sore?
He was field kept up until I bought him (nov) and unclipped, with some rain scald on his shoulders. I have managed to treat it by clipping him out and using hibiscrub, and has now pretty much gone, but and am just wondering if it has travelled to his saddle area.
Any ideas?
