saddle stamp

I think it depends on the age, I have had a couple of old ones which were decent basic saddles, but I have read that newer ones were not made in the original factory and they dont seem to be the same

The one that is being advertised
has a silver stud Its for my livery the guy is asking £ 70 for it, looks like it it needs tlc and good clean and leather treatment though

The older ones just have a capital A stamped in the shield. I have had several, they do tend to spread a bit.

I know its in rough condition, they just need a cheap saddle

Neither of mine had that red nail.
Just an A in a shield shape, also stamped on the flaps.

Things can change over time, often earlier saddles don't have the fancy nailheads etc of later ones, true of several brands.

Antill was a decent English brand, now made in India so don't touch more recent ones with a bargepole.

yeah I understand that, what I was getting at is that if the OPs didn't have the red nail it didn't mean it wasn't an older antill, hence the pic i posted ;)
