Also in Stable Yard.

At the moment I'm using Thorowgood High Wither T4 GP. Tried lots of different saddles, leather & synthetic, when I first bought my boy but this one fitted him best. However, although it fits him great I'm not so happy with it. Due to him being short coupled he's in a 17.5" but in terms of fitting me better an 18" would give me a bit more room for my backside LOL! I'm also quite long in the thigh so need enough room for length of leg so that I'm not going over the knee roll.

Anyway, I'm looking to concentrate more on the dressage side of things and am going to ring my saddle fitter after the bank holiday and get her to come out to him. In the meantime I wondered if anyone can recommend any dressage or VSD ones that would be good for high withers and a short back.

what is your hip to knee length? that makes a huge diff to the type of saddle req! high withered horses often need police points which are longer than normal points on a saddle! albion do police points depends if your hip to knee fits on their saddles. best advice is to try many many dressage saddles til you like what fits!

I would recommend Albion - they do a TB tree which has a cut back head which suit my freakishly big, high withered thoroughbred (although he is long in the back). I had both xc jumping and dressage (both the old style legend model) and were the only saddle I could find, apart from an ancient Exselle GP which fitted him but not me (long hip to knee measurement so my knee hung over rolls).

Can you please explain what "police points" are? My horse is a warmblood also with a high wither and a big shoulder so am also finding problems trying to find a saddle that fits as I also have a long thigh. The saddler that fitted him with a saddle last month has managed to give us a saddle that has hurt his back quite bad so he's now having physio and osteopath treatment and whilst my boy needs room to move his shoulder, I also need a gp saddle that has room for my knees to actually still be on the saddle rather than shooting over the edge! Any ideas anyone?
