I'm thinking of changing my saddle.
The saddler is coming out in a couple of weeks to check mine over and he has grown since her last visit.

However, whilst I love the saddle (Jeffries Falcon), I think I could do with a saddle that give me more leg room on the knee area for jumping.
This is a problem I always have but because he is a bit smaller than I am used to I feel I ought to try other types of saddle to try and give me a bit more security in front - I've jumped in the Jeffries satisfactory for a number of years and its good but feel I might be able to get better.

So any suggestions please - I am hoping to get a couple of saddles on trial for when the saddler visits. After speaking to her I am looking at Black Country Quantum or Wexford.

She has also suggested an Ideal Impala but its a Monoflap that she's tagged me into, which I don't really want.

Any other suggestions, I can take a look at?

Ideally I want something about 17"/17.5", probably MW which is not too heavy and has good flaps for long upper legs. She has told me Albion K2 probably wont suit the horse (or she doesn't particularly like them!).

My daughter’s got extremely long legs and both she and her horse love her Ergo jump saddle. They’re not an easy combination to fit as my daughter has a very small torso and very long legs and her horse has massive shoulders but is quite short-backed. I think it’s a 16.5 (?) - it fits them both and horse moves well in it.

If your daughter is who I think it is then yes it's a 16.5 :). Because so many riders that I assess have short, wide pelvises this is the most common seat size.

I’ve not heard of Ergo - I’ll do a search. Thanks.

Hi Dixie, sadly I'm the only fitter in the UK for Ergox2 and I can't get to Devon but if you can travel, I have someone else from the area considering travelling up to Warwickshire which is my nearest venue. Providing space for riders' legs is seen as simply going larger flap, higher block, perhaps larger seat, which is what I thought until I fitted these saddles. Rider fit is something that we knew very little about, and there is still some BS marketing around about it, but real science is catching up. Until you fit to actual pelvic shape everything else is guesswork, compromise and ultimately can put the rider in tension. Success is down to experience and best guessing by the fitter.
