Hi, my 9 year old chap has a back like a table top (short coupled too) and not a huge amount of wither. I am in need of a new dressage saddle. Before I get the saddler out (they stock different makes) are there any saddles that would particularly suit him or come recommended and equally ones to avoid? Thanks!

We have a WOW saddle and in fact today have been to Richard Davison's to have it checked by David from WOW. Last year every saddle slipped on him . We had a wow fitted and used an H girth, we were told that he would change shape with the saddle and he has. Today he had a size down headplate fitted and hasn't needed the H girth for about 6 months now.

I'd second that - a wow with SDWG panels is probably what you need!!

On another note, I have new new wow dressage saddle and the twist is so much more comfy than my saddle company one. I can now do dressage without aching!

I have an Arab - flat table-top back and no wither.... there is not a dressage saddle on the market that fits him (trust me i've tried everything over the past 15yrs) and he hated the WOW, so Ideal made me one from scratch using a new tree they've just developed.... cost £950 and it is perfect!!!

All you need to do is get your saddler to take a template, sit on various Ideal saddles and pick your seat and flaps, then hey presto, 6 weeks later, perfect saddle!
