Is it acceptable to use a foam/sheepskin riser pad on a saddle that needs reflocking? If so, which would be more preferable - foam or sheepskin? Saddle is due to go in for reflocking next week, but I need to know whether I can continue to use it in the meantime without it making Ellie sore! It was custom made for her three years ago, but I have noticed recently that it seems quite low over her withers.

Thanks in advance!

Hehe thankies! I'm gonna have to get that jacket back out and stitch all my buttons on - I transferred them onto my black jacket for our dismal attempt at dressage

Hey. I've had the same problem with my mare. her specially fitted saddle has gone very low on her withers(looks like I'm heading for a new one though!!) I've been using a normal numnah and a pro-lite pad together just to pad around her withers. It's seems to be doing the job especially as it's only temporary.

Thanks for the reply!

After a couple of months, new saddles usually need reflocking due to settlement of the original wool. And then checking every year after that as where the stirrup bars are in the middle, the wool moves (due to the twist when mounting) - spoken words of a SMS fitter!!!!
