my horse is curently between sizes at the moment and her saddle is to low on her withers , really didnt want to get a new saddle yet if could be avoided. do the prolite front risers work - lift the saddle enough and prevent muscle wastage.

Have you had a saddle fitter look at the horse? depending on the saddle they can be narrowed or widened slightly so they fit correctly. This would solve your problem of not wanting to get a new saddle. Also a saddle fitter can adjust it the correct amount needed, a riser pad would not guarantee it sat correctly. If I were you I would seek out a saddle fitter with the correct machinery to do this.

Pink Princess, I recently bought a front riser pad as my saddle was too low, but riser pad was too thick and made the saddle tight!Unfortunately I have bought a wintec adjustable saddle( recommended by saddler) but it will not adjust down any more I would have to go for a different model. Im hoping the summer fat will make a difference

My saddle was too low, I got a pro lite riser pad but as the other post said it just made my saddle too tight. I ended up buying another saddle so it would fit better.

Do make sure that the saddle is brought back into the correct balance, not just lifted to give more clearance and do get it checked by a fitter at some stage. For my remedial fits I always use Mattes Correction pads - they have very thin shims which can be used singly or several to make it thicker - you need to cut them back so that there is only ever one edge at a time (ie no sharp double or treble edge on the horse) but you can add as many as you need, and remove as needed as well, none of this worry about it being too much or too little lift. They are expensive but are the best available and SO useful to have in the tack room - can also be used with no shims.
