Sorry further question. Has anyone had a saddle tree point come out of its pocket

the saddle has hardly been used the horse has never fallen in it it’s not been dropped or damaged and has been stored correctly. No stirrups or girth and on a padded saddle rack in a dry clean room There is no rip in the leather where the tree point should be

also should the pannels underneath be different sizes?

Are these manufacturers faults in the saddle or something a horse or rider can cause by riding in the saddle

I would contact the saddle maker and get them to fix it I would imagine it would be free of charge it sounds like it could be some sort of fault.

I had a GFS saddle that had a broken tree point my saddler sent it back to them and they confirmed it was a fault and they did it for free.

It can happen when panels are dropped (ie unlaced at front or back), some saddles have a more secure tree point pocket than others, it's not ideal that they can slip out, but they occasionally can, not through normal use though. The panels should be the same size and shape, within a certain tolerance (a few mm only) but asymmetric flocking can make panels look different, and can even stretch the leather. I thought you were dealing with an expert over this saddle? They should be able to write you a full report covering the things that are problems not caused by normal use.

The panels on the saddle were never dropped as the fitter isn’t skilled enough to do that and it would have needed to be sent away to be done
