I am finally finally going to get around to setting up an e bay account to sell two saddles that I don't use. Given the current market can anyone give me a realistic valuation on a Bates event saddle, 17.5 inches, narrow to medium in black and an old stubben same measurement in a brown /tan colour.

Sorry to ask but I have no clue. The stubben is well worn in, the Bates is hardly used.

Thank you

Its a hard one to valuate as saddles drop in price so much espicaly like you say in this climate.
How old are your saddles? And is the Stubben a event aswell?

Bates saddle is just over two years old but only used for about six months from new. Stubben is a jumping saddle. I got a made to measure one when my instructor told me that the saddle was too narrow - so much for experienced saddle fitter who sold it to me

I have no clue. I've held onto them because of the financial climate but they're just taking up space and I'd like to put the dosh towards a dressage saddle. Don't want to ask a price that's too high or too low.

Its a diffiult one, I know that Bates are good value saddles and are not cheap new id say about £600 - £700 for the bates if sold privately and the Stubben id say about the same, I know this is proberly a big loss but if you went part ex you'd loose even more money and trust me I know.
I have a Frank Baines made to measure which is top of the range and bought 6months ago and now if i wanted to part ex id only get about £500 for it thats a 1k loss! its rediculous.
Thats the problem as soon as that saddle comes out of the saddlers and onto a back and ridden in the money falls from it.
