Saddle worries

i cannot manage to find a saddle that will fit my tb. He had atrophy next to his very high withers when I got him so I have been building his muscles up slowly and he has gone from a narrow to a medium-wide saddle now. I need a 17inch saddle but the problem is not his high withers as there are good saddles on the market for them. His main problem is that he has an extremely short back. i 've tried lots of treed saddles and they are all fine for a couple of weeks and then they start to hurt him. i have also tried a Vogue saddle but it was still sitting past his last rib.

Can anyone suggest anything please?
 
Would you go synthetic?
I can recommend a Thorowgood High wither. I've had both the T4 and T6 (tbh prefer the cheaper T4!)
might be an option and they are very light and adjustable.
 
I had a 17" Symonds saddle for my TB who was high withered with hollows in his withers and extremely short coupled. They are like hen's teeth secondhand though.

I'm just going through exactly the same thing at the moment. Really awkward to find anything that fits, and my saddler doesn't have anything, so I've just bought 7 2nd hand saddles off rideaway ('borrowed' mums credit card!) because if they don't fit you can send them back really cheaply.
They got delivered today so I'll find out tonight if any of them fit and I'll let you know the make tomorrow!
