Whatever Saddlecloth or Numnah I use on my new saddle, a Fusion Goldstone GP, (used for jumping and hacking) it always slips backwards, can anyone suggest something? Does anyone know of any that connect to D-rings as opposed to girth straps?

Thanks,
Jo

My previous horse had really high withers. I kept trying different numnahs and even the ones with straps kept slipping back really badly. I also tried a Poly Pad and that was the worst of all. I remember I was cantering round in the school and suddently I heard people shouting my name. The Poly Pad had come out the back of the saddle as was just about to fall off! In the end I bought him sheepskin numnahs (got Barl ones they were brilliant). These didn't move at all and was so happy that I finally found a numnah that stayed put. Also, regarding ones that have D ring straps, Nuu Med do some and also Inchs Saddlery (although I don't know if this is only in their dressage range). Hope that helps

Thanks, I have quite a few sheepskin ones but was just wasn’t sure about them fitting under the saddle because it was fitted with a thin numnah, I will ask my saddler tomorrow what she thinks. Thanks for your reply, it really does help!

Try using an ordinary piece of chamois leather (Halfords or any car place do them, or I buy really big bits on the internet for only a few pounds) and lay it over your horse's withers under your saddle cloth. Works wonders, and is kind to your horse because it is a natural material.

Hi - Ive a Fusion - Susan fitted mine slightly wide to accomodate numnah and pad - either prolite or sheepskin half pad - I use a poly pad, what evers about and clean really - best of all are the nuumed high wither ones - they also have the option of D ring attachments which I personally dont like as then cant have b-plate on but thats just me!

Nuumed do ones that attach to the d rings but they also have normal ones which if you do them up properly are fine as are Mattes numnahs. What I find best with numnahs that slip back is to attach them to the saddle whilst on a saddle horse or saddle rack. Attach the loops to whereever they attach - round girth straps or whatever - and put it in the right position and do straps up v.v.v tight. They never slip with me when I do that. Hope that makes sense.

Am just about to put a hi wither white original nuumed one on Ebay though if you're interested. Full size and only tried on once!!

No no no! Get a grip numnah - they have totally revolutionised my life, I kid you not. The Barnby ones are a bit expensive but Shires do one for 17.99 and it's just as good!
