Saddlecloths without straps - do they slip?

Have found a lovely saddlecloth on the internet which I really like but it has no girth loops or velcro straps on it, without these will it slip or will it be okay?

think it depends on the shape of your horse......if I use a standard cut one it slips. If it is a high wither cut, then its fine. why dont you try one you already have without using the straps and that should give you an idea.

I naughty , I never do the girth straps up, so that would not put me off

I use a Polypad, no straps and that doesn't slip as long as it's well positioned

I always remove the straps from saddle cloths. Most of them are sewn on just behind the wither where the saddle sits - just where you really do not want a lump and pressure on the horse. I've never understood why they do it, and I wonder how many horses behave badly because of it. My numnahs never slip.

They always slip on our cob so I add straps myself xx

If you're worried and handy with a needle, you could always make your own straps

I have a nice john wittaker one without straps fits really well and doesnt slip
