Looking for some advice re: saddle fitters. Recently, I've been having major problems with my Fell pony getting a saddle to fit. Think I've decided that the only option left is to have a saddle made to measure. The only problem is, I don't have £1000's to spend. I would absolutely love a Black Country or Native Pony Company saddle but unfortunately, my budget doesn't stretch that far! Has anyone ever used The Saddle Company - their saddles seem quite reasonably priced and they can make to order? Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated, Thank you.
 
Have you thought of a shilouette ? Saddle it's what I got after 5 non fitting saddles for my Welsh D lovely saddles and reasonable price I paid £475 brand new and fitted about 4 years ago never had a problem i
I used a lady called Nikki from Mayhill Saddlery from Derbyshire , quite difficult to get hold of but fantastic fitter very experienced

Harriet Havers in Newark is good for secondhand saddles & had a few Farringtons last time I was there.
 
I've spent a fortune trying to get a saddle to fit my traddie, was seriously "had" by an unscrupulous set-up who were only interested in flogging new saddles and didn't give a fig about you after that.

Just an idea OP: have a look around local car boots and/or any second-hand horsey shops in your area. You can easily take a template of your horse's back, both the width and the back-curve. I did mine out of cardboard and took it to a local equine car boot sale: saw a lovely little Lovatt & Ricketts saddle going for £50! It fitted my template, I took it home, and it fitted like a glove, later confirmed by a professional saddle fitter who adjusted the flock just a tad.

If you have a second-hand horsey goods exchange shop or what-have-you in your area then ask them if you could have a rummage through their "bargain basement" i.e. stuff under £100. Some of these saddles may be a bit needing TLC and/or needing minor repairs, but they are very often good reputable makes (what I call good "old fashioned" makes that have been around for years) which have simply seen better days. Take your template with you and you might just find a little gem.

If you're reasonably sure about the fit then you can then get your professional saddle fitter out to adjust the flock as necessary.
