Saddler has been out to the young one and recommends a kent and masters saddle (amongst others) I have been searching and the second hand price is not much off the new price? Do they hold there value well? New price is £725 and second hand seems to be £600+. Looking for a 17" ideally brown GP if anyone is holding onto one ;)

We have also been looking (for 17" black) and the ones advertised at £600ish don't seem to be selling quickly. There was one on preloved, 17" gp in brown, in Essex that was under £500 and looked to be in excellent condition. I've watched several on a Ebay go for under £450. Those were all original series, not s series.

All the ones on preloved and ebay at the min are wrong size (has to be 17" as .5 either way is too big for him or too small for me) or £600+ Feel free to share links if I am being really dumb!! Not bothered about it being an s series tbh, although if I do buy new I would be tempted to buy an s series GP as they are only £70 more.

Ive bought two at £400 and £450 and sold them on at £400. That seems to be the general price for ones that are a year old or so and have some wear but no major blemishes. The ones I have seem advertised at £600/550 have been ones that have only had short term use. If you are paying that kind of money you may as well pay the full whack and get the saddle fitted and back up from the saddler etc. When I bought my saddle new I got it fitted and a follow up fitting included in the price and the gullet that I wanted.

Interesting frumpoon, T4 was an option. My vanity wanted leather lol!! as was the Ideal H+C but they are like hens teeth second hand and way to expensive new.

A brown t4 is very very convincingly leather and the suede seat and knees is really confidence giving, especially if you have a baby horse apt to...ahem...bounce

I've also not had a problem with the leather on either of mine (dressage and monoflap jump).

I absolutely love K&M saddles, largely because they fit my horse so well. The gullet can be a pain in arse to change so OH does that now to save bits being thrown around the front room ;).

What you'll pay really does depend on how long you're wiling to wait - for a while there was a glut of them on eBay and people were struggling to get much over £350 for them. It seems at the moment that there are loads of S-Series and not many standard ones.

Which exact model are you looking for? Just the standard GP (not cob or high wither)? I do keep an eye out for K&M saddles so will see if I can find one :). Another place to try would be the 'Saddles For Sale and Wanted' group on Facebook, though you should only ever pay by PayPal (as 'goods and services', not a gift).

Thank you, yes needs to be standard GP as too much wither for cob saddle, despite being extra wide. Wouldn't mind an s series if one turned up for reasonable money, I just don't see the point in paying £600 when I can buy it new for a little bit more. I did put a wanted ad on a few of the facebook pages. Not sure if I did on that one, although I am a member.

My saddler also interestingly recommended as a good quality saddle, the Ideal H & C for my Dales youngster. The other option he suggested, which I have gone for is the slightly cheaper Paul Jones saddle and that is lovely quality and butter soft leather.
The saddle I currently have for him is an older leather Thorowgood L6 saddle, which is virtually the same saddle as the Kent & Masters with changeable gullet. I will use that for now then move onto the lovely Paul Jones which I bought secondhand for £300. I couldn't source an Ideal H & C in the wide rather than Apex secondhand.

I've got a brown 17" for sale , used twice . But unfortunately we are in Abu Dhabi so think the shipping costs may be a bit prohibitive

I have the Cob GP and love it. Very sad it doesn't fit Jazz terribly well as it's a really comfy saddle.

I bought mine brand new from the fitter when I had Dylan.
