Can anyone recommend a good saddler in Shrops who will come to Mkt Drayton?

I used to use the guy who ran Telford Saddlery (years ago, before it was sold to the people who have it now) but that was 3 years or so ago at least, before I moved away. I won't use the Wyke due to a bad experience, so not sure where else to try?

A friend of mine used Crewe Saddlery a while ago but I seem to think they're a long way away, and I got the impression from my friend that they only want to sell their own brand made to measure saddles?

Thanks

Andy Wheals is the guy who used to run Telford Saddlery. He is a qualified saddle fitter. H is now master of N Shropshire hounds so not sure if he is still doing saddles, last number I had for him was 07950 256173.

Thanks, I'll see what I can find out because I thougth he was v good. I thought they'd moved away into deepest, darkest Wales to a new house? I guess not if he's Master of the NS!

I'm in the process of having a second saddle made by martin gulliver from woodseaves, he is excellent and will build what you want, but he does only do made to measure. I had tried andy wheals first, but his next appointment was in 6 weeks time....!

Thanks for that, and for the tip about the waiting time! I will give him a ring as by the time I've got the money together, it might be about the right time for him!

Does he do second hand, or just made to measure/brand new? I only ever had him out to reflock or refit existing saddles.

i don't know to be honest, when i told him about my horses shape he seemed to think it sounded awkward and would need to customise something, didn't mention second hand.

Only new, as far as I know. But the saddlery at Eccleshall always has around 10 of his saddles in,second hand, if that helps?

Having said that, I know someone who bought a Martin Gulliver MTM and still needed a "violin" pad and Prolite to get it to fit.......

Im also a person who had a problem fit with a M2M Gulliver saddle, cost a fortune & never fittted the horse, so i wont recommend him.
In fact i dont use anyone from round here im not far away from M Drayton, but i have clients who use Mel & there saddles always seem a good fit.

i live in nantwich and have got 3 of his saddles all fit perfectly - in fact one of them is now on it's third horse. Exceptional quality, fantastic service, fantastic comfort in fact I would question anyone who has had a problem with him and his saddles
