Hello I've recently bought a saddle that does not fit my horse. The saddler who fitted the saddle is disputing this. Does anyone know of a saddler who would be willing to review and prepare a report on the saddle to help my case? I am based in East Sussex. Thanks for any suggestions. :)

For any one who needs a legal opinion it must be from an SMS fitter for the courts/Trading Standards to respect it as far as I know. The trouble is the SMS can be a bit of a closed shop, so you may need to ask around a bit. I am always happy to give an opinion but then I fit rather differently to most SMS QSFs anyway! I just can't give a formal legal opinion.

Jimenycrickets please clear some of your inbox/outbox messages as untikl you do I cannot PM to answer your last message, Oz
wkiwi I will pm you hang on

Can you PM me too please? My cobs saddle has started to slip as she has lost rather a lot of weight (She was grossly overweight when I got her) and I think it needs adjusting. I'd appreciate a recommendation or some advice on someone who knows what they are doing as there are too many numptys out there!

I would also be interested to hear people's views on consumer rights (return/ refund). I had my saddle for less than a week when I asked the saddler for a refund. The saddle is not made to measure. Many thanks.

I'm worried I have to return the saddle within 14 days of giving notice that I would like a refund. This particular individual is untrustworthy. If I take saddle myself I anticipate he will deny me returning it and if I send it special delivery he will probably claim it is damaged. Any thoughts welcomed.

If the saddler you have used is registered with the SMS, they have a code of conduct to work from. There should not be an issue with the 14 day refund policy.
